PMB Portable FAQ

If an error appears and the PMB Portable cannot be launched, update the PMB Portable in the camera using the PMB Portable Maintenance Tool. The problem will be solved.
You can use the PMB Portable Maintenance Tool by installing Picture Motion Browser Ver.2.1.03 in your computer from the CD-ROM supplied with the camera.
After installing Picture Motion Browser Ver.2.1.03 on your computer, select [Start] - [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows(R) 2000) - [Sony Picture Utility] - [Tools] - [PMB Portable Maintenance Tool] - [Start].

The USB cable should not be disconnected, or the “Memory Stick Duo” should not be ejected while the PMB Portable is running.
Before disconnecting the USB cable, or ejecting the “Memory Stick Duo” close the PMB Portable, then click [Safely Remove Hardware] ([Unplug or Eject Hardware] for Windows(R) 2000).

Make sure that the USB connection mode of the camera is set to [Mass Storage], or that is displayed on the task tray.
If this is not the case, select [Start] - [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows(R) 2000) - [Sony Picture Utility] - [Tools] - [Media Check Tool].
If a network drive is set for your computer, select [Tool] - [Map Network Drive], and select an available drive starting from the last character (Z:) of the alphabet for the network drive. Then, re-start the computer.

In the security software, change the settings to allow the PMB Portable and [SPUBuiltInAccessor.exe] to access the internet.
Refer to the instruction manual of the security software for details.

This may occur when the date and time setting of the computer is incorrect.
Set the date and time of the computer correctly.

This may happen with Windows Vista. You can disregard this message and continue using the computer.
To stop this message from being displayed, scan and fix following the instructions given in the messages on the screen.
If you disconnect the USB cable, or eject the “Memory Stick Duo” from the camera, while the PMB Portable is running, this message may appear next time when you connect the computer with the camera, or insert the “Memory Stick Duo.”
If you want to disconnect the USB cable, or eject the “Memory Stick Duo,” close the PMB Portable, then disable the hardware by clicking [Safely Remove Hardware] ([Unplug or Eject Hardware] for Windows(R) 2000) beforehand.

Check the DirectX version installed in your computer.
If the DirectX version is earlier than 9.0C, or no DirectX software is installed, install the Picture Motion Browser from the CD-ROM supplied with the camera, or update Windows.
An appropriate DirectX will be installed.

The menu or messages of the PMB Portable may not be displayed correctly, depending on the OS language of the computer.
In this case, select English as the language setting for the PMB Portable using the PMB Portable Maintenance Tool.

No, you cannot.
Sharemark icons can only be added or removed on the camera itself.

If the camera has been formatted, this phenomenon can occur. In that case, starting the PMB Portable Maintenance Tool and repairing the PMB Portable already installed will allow you to start the software properly.
