Troubleshooting




The shooting date was changed in the PMB (Picture Motion Browser), but it is not reflected in the Calendar view.
When the shooting date was changed on the condition that Calendar view is displayed, it is not soon reflected on the display.
In order to be reflected on the display, press the [F5] key on the keyboard to update the screen.

Media files were added or deleted in the registered folder, but they are not reflected in the view.
Select [Update Database] in the [Tools] menu, to update the database.

The thumbnail of a media file is shown in [x], and the media file cannot be viewed.
The [x] is displayed when you move the registered folder or change the name of folder. Select [Update Database] in the [Tools] menu, to update the database.

Why are the dates of the imported media files shown on the Calendar view different from the dates of the actual recording?
This happens when the clock of the camera is not set correctly. Check the clock setting of your camera.

You can change the recording dates that were originally recorded for the media files using the PMB (Picture Motion Browser).
Use the following steps to change the date.
  1. Select the media file for which you want to change the date.
  2. Click the first media file, and press and hold the [Shift] key to click the last media file, in order to select a series of media files in the media file display area of the main screen.
    To select multiple media files that are not serial, press and hold the [Ctrl] key to click.
  3. Select [Batch Date Change] in the [Manipulate] menu.
  4. Correct the date.

When there is only one media file to be corrected, you can use the following methods to change it.
  1. Select the media file for which you want to change the date, in the media file display area.
  2. Right-click to select [Media File Information] in the displayed menu.
  3. The [Media File Information] screen is shown.
  4. Change [Date Taken].
  5. Select the shooting date from the calendar that is displayed by clicking .
    Specify the shooting time by entering in the spin box or clicking or .
  6. Press the [Enter] key, or click anywhere other than the spin box, and close the [Media File Information] screen.

I cannot get the latest Media Service even if I execute [Media service update check].
It may occur in the following cases.

  • when the computer is not connected to the Internet

  • when the Internet Explorer 6.0 or later has not been installed

Videos cannot be played back till the end on the Movie Tracer.
It may occur in the following cases.

  • when the video is shot with fast-movement

  • when recording with zoom-out too much

  • when the tracing range is exceed

The video converted to WMV using the Movie Tracer cannot be saved properly.
It may occur when you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE while executing [Convert to WMV and Save].

The menus and messages of the PMB (Picture Motion Browser) are partly missing, or garbled.
This may occur depending on the font type and size used, or the resolution setting of the computer screen. If this is the case, the situation will be improved by changing the font setting, and changing the Regional and Language Options to the standard setting.

Videos cannot be played back on the Movie Tracer.
It may occur in the following cases.

  • when the video card does not have enough video memory

  • when Direct 3D acceleration is disabled


Please follow the steps below to enable the hardware acceleration.

For Windows(R) XP:

  1. Click [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Appearance and Themes] - [Display].
    *If you use Windows Classic View, click [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Display].
  2. On the [Settings] tab, click [Advanced], and then click the [Troubleshoot] tab.
  3. Move the [Hardware acceleration] slider to [Full].

For Windows Vista:

  1. Click [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Appearance and Personalization] - [Personalization] - [Display Settings].
    * If you use Windows Classic View, click [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Personalization] - [Display Settings].
  2. Click [Advanced Settings...], and then click the [Troubleshoot] tab.
  3. Click [Change settings], and then move the [Hardware acceleration] slider to [Full].

An error occurred when [Safely Remove Hardware] is executed while the camera and the computer are being connected.
In case the computer is recognizing the camera or an application is recognizing the media in the camera, an error may occur if the [Safely Remove Hardware] is run.

In this case, finish the running application or wait for some time and repeat the same step.

Can I start the video tracing from the desired point?
You can change the IN point and the OUT point using PMB (Picture Motion Browser) if the video is recorded with the camera.
Please trim the scene with [Video Trimming…] in [Manipulate]. After trimming, please edit the video using the Movie Tracer.

When I connect the camera and the computer via the USB cable, or insert a recording medium into the computer, the software does not start importing images automatically.
Make sure if the is displayed on the task tray.
If it is not displayed, select [Start] - [All Programs] - [Sony Picture Utility] - [Tools] - [Media Check Tool].
Also, if the media files are stored on a disc medium such as a CD-R or DVD-R, the software does not import images automatically. In this case, select [Import Media Files] from the [File] menu, specify the drive in the [Import Media Files] window, and click [Import].
